ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Specialists are health care professionals with a Bachelor's Degree who typically work in cardiovascular/pulmonary rehabilitation programs, physicians' offices or medical fitness centers. The ACSM Clinical Exercise Specialist may also provide exercise-related consulting for research, public health, and other clinical and non-clinical services and programs.

Candidate Profile	The ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist^SM (CES) is a professional with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in exercise science.
Work Setting	Community/ public health settings, health clubs, corporate fitness centers, university recreation centers
Scope of Practice (abridged)	The CES works with patients and clients challenged with cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic diseases and disorders, as well as with apparently healthy populations in cooperation with other healthcare professionals to enhance quality of life, manage health risk, and promote lasting health behavior change.
Recommended Competencies	Working with individuals with controlled cardiovascular pulmonary and/ or metabolic disease Performing clinical exercise testing and data interpretation Conducting and interpreting ECGs at rest and during exercise
